The amazing part is that even though the camera was manufactured back in 2016, I found it completely brand new.I bought this exceptionally beautiful, retro-looking camera for my son, hoping he will capture many great shots with it.Why Choose a Dedicated Camera Over a Smartphone?Someone might ask: "Tsetso, why do you need this camera when you have an iPhone that shoots much better?". Smartphones definitely have newer sensors and AI-driven background processing that makes split-second decisions for you. However, relying solely on a phone for serious shooting comes with downsides:

  • It drains the battery of a device you constantly need for everything else.
  • Storage space on a phone is limited and fills up quickly.

On the other hand, a dedicated camera gives you a physical tool built solely for photography. If you are willing to spend about six months learning how to shoot using manual (rather than automatic) settings, a camera grants you total control over the aperture, shutter speed, white balance, and noise reduction. This is precisely what transforms the final result.The Major Advantage: Compactness and Gear FatigueWhen you have been shooting for a long time, the heavy gear around your full-frame camera inevitably stacks up - bulky lenses, heavy backpacks, external monitors, extra batteries, and filters. At some point, gear fatigue sets in from constantly dragging all this equipment around.Sometimes you just want to go out, hang a lightweight camera around your neck, click the shutter, and capture an interesting frame without all the clutter. The camera features a variety of color and art profiles that manipulate tones to mimic classic film stocks:

  • Monochrome: A black-and-white mode that strongly resembles the film simulations found in Fuji and Leica.
  • Portrait: Enhanced and boosted skin tones.
  • Muted: Subdued, toned-down colors.
  • Natural: A natural profile, which I personally use quite often.
  • Vivid: Boosted, high-contrast colors.

Video Capabilities and Design:
The model features a tiltable screen that can snap upward (for shooting from low angles) or downward (if you are capturing frames from above). The biggest surprise is that the screen can flip completely downward to face you - triggering a dedicated selfie/vlog mode. This allows you to see what you are recording and control the start/stop function directly from the display. Video recording is capped at 1080p resolution at 25-30 frames per second, and you can also apply built-in art effects while recording, such as a slow-shutter blur effect or adding vertical scratches like an old film strip.The Cons of the ModelAs someone with nearly 10 years of shooting experience, this camera has two clear drawbacks for me:

Lack of a built-in Electronic Viewfinder (EVF): You can buy an external one to attach, but given its 2016 release date, finding one today would be quite difficult.

No external microphone jack: When shooting video, you have to rely entirely on the camera's built-in microphone.ConclusionCan this tiny camera replace a full-frame system? No, it won't replace it completely. Every piece of gear has its own purpose and market niche.
